Discovery of a treasure of ornaments from Lubnowy Wielkie, Susz commune was made in the spring of 2017 by Mariusz Sikora, currently a member of the ‘Galea’ Historical and Research Association from Susz. The typological analysis (analysis of stylistic features) showed that the monuments were made in the so-called Bronze Age (approx. 950/800–750 BC), when the Iława Lake District was inhabited by Lusatian culture communities. The set consists of five relics: a breastplate, a cuff bracelet, two ribbon bracelets and a pince-nez pendant. The style of the ornaments shows clear analogies to the artefacts discovered earlier in Eastern Pomerania and the zone of the so-called Nordic culture (south Scandinavia, north-east Germany, Western Pomerania). Under the direction of Łukasz Szczepański – an archaeologist from the Ostróda museum, excavations of the site were carried out, which confirmed the discoverer's account, allowed to register the context of the discovery, and the ceramic material obtained at the site dates back to the end of the Bronze Age. In addition, it was established that the treasure was deposited on a hill nearby the currently non-existent lake.
